The Western Winds: Mozart's Gran Partita

Mozart’s Serenade No. 10 in Bb, K. 361 (the Gran Partita) has been called a masterpiece of the wind repertoire and one of the greatest works in all of classical music. The Gran Partita will be performed by the Western Winds, a unique ensemble in the School of Music at Western Michigan University. The ensemble is comprised of music faculty in the wind, brass and percussion studios and their premiere graduate students. The Western Winds draw upon literature from the 16th through the 21st centuries and have performed compositions by such well know composers as Gabrieli, Mozart, Beethoven, Dvorak, Strauss and Gershwin, to name a few. The ensemble is conducted by Dr. Robert Spradling, WMU Director of Bands and Professor of Music.
