Yellow Terror: The Collections and Paintings of Roger Shimomura

October 21-November 24 | WMU Richmond Center

Roger Shimomura is a Japanese-American artist whose paintings tackle society's perceptions about race and culture. Shimomura's work is provocative and challenges the viewers' notions of history, ethnic images, popular culture and American ideals. Recommended for fifth grade and older. The exhibition is available only through the Aesthetic Education Program.

The Wyeths: America's Artists

The Wyeths exhibition presents 80 quintessentially American works of art by three generations of this famous family: illustrator and painter N.C. Wyeth (1882-1945); Andrew Wyeth (1917-2009), known by many as "America's Painter"; and James Browning Wyeth (b. 1946). Special announcement: The KIA is pleased to offer docent-guided tours free-of-charge to school groups. Tours will not count towards using your EFA Presents! Admission Credits.

Ellis Island: The Dream of America

Composer Peter Boyer’s Ellis Island celebrates the American immigrant experience and the American dream. Innovative in its format, the work brings elements of the theatre and multimedia into the concert hall, employing actors and projected historical images from the Ellis Island archives. Performances will be presented by the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra and the Civic Theatre.
