1. The MiBLSi Application Process
Time 12:30-4:00
Cost Free
Audience Any interested applicants

MiBLSi is currently accepting applications for the 2008-2009 school year. This workshop will help interested parties work on their applications and answer any questions that participants may still have about MiBLSi.
MiBLSi improves both student reading and behavior by providing professional
development that helps leadership teams design school-wide programs that:
1. Impact all students
2. Use specific student/’building data as the basis for all
planning decisions; and,
3. Create a three-tiered intervention process that reaches all
students at their individual level of need.

2. Catching Up with MiBLSi
Time 9:00-3:30
Cost $15.00
Audience Anyone from or working with a MiBLSi School

Are you new to MiBLSi? Did you join a MiBLSi school after they had gone through the cycle of training? This session is for all interested administration, principals, coaches, or team members who were not able to go through the MiBLSi training sequence with their school teams. This session will provide a quick, but thorough, overview of both the reading and behavior MiBLSi training sequences.

3. Read Naturally
Time 9:00-3:00
Cost $15
Audience Anyone from a MiBLSi School

What is Read Naturally?  Read Naturally is a reading fluency intervention designed to help struggling readers with skills necessary for fluent and effortless reading. The program addresses accuracy, rate, and reading with expression. Three research-based strategies are used in Read Naturally:  teacher modeling, repeated reading, and progress monitoring.    Research indicates that oral reading fluency is highly correlated with reading comprehension.

Note:  Read Naturally comes in Masters Edition (ME) using book/tapes and Software Edition (SE) using computers for student instruction.  Our workshop will offer training in both, and participants will need to decide which strand they would like to attend. Participants attending the SE version will need to bring a laptop computer.
