Based on hundreds of studies on formative assessments, researchers Black and Wiliam found that when done well, student’s experience achievement gains of 26 percentile points.
Kalamazoo RESA, in conjunction with “The Teaching American History” grant is pleased to present a three-day workshop for secondary social studies teachers. In this workshop teachers will:
- Create standards-based summative and formative assessments
- Create a feedback and student-involvement plan
- Receive background knowledge, supporting materials, collaborative support, and create a generalizable process for continuing the use of formative assessments.
- Have opportunities to share with other teachers regarding the implementation of the plan and the impact on their student’s learning.
Within a week after the registration deadline, participating teachers will receive a packet that includes the text, what you will need to bring, along with some minor preparatory work that should be completed prior to Day 1.
| Participants will receive a total stipend of $160 and sub-fees for Day 3 paid for by the grant. (Participants must be present for all three days in order to receive the stipend.) |
